Some cities are very special, almost magical. Some cities have a soul, a character, that attracts and allures visitors from all over the world in magnet-like fashion, San Antonio, for one. We may not be New York, London, Rome or Paris, but we're still way up there on the charm and ambiance scale. History and a rich Spanish heritage combine to form our cultural centerpiece. The Alamo, Missions, La Villita, Market Square, Fiesta, San Antonio and the River Walk make our city the #1 tourist destination in Texas. Brag, but true.

San Antonio has been described as "One of America's Four Unique Cities," the same distinction bestowed on New Orleans, San Francisco and Boston. Pretty good company, if we do say so ourselves. Famous 1940s newspaper columnist Ernie Pyle called San Antonio "The Venice of America." Not bad either. If you've visited, come back por más. If you've never set foot on our tierra firma, please consider yourself invited. We guarantee good times, great food, bountiful beauty, and smiles from ear-to-ear. San Antonio plays the role of a warm and caring host extremely well. Since much of our economy centers around tourism, we know just where our bread is buttered. By the way, we're open 365 days a year from daylight to well beyond dark.

Throughout history, San Antonio has received thousands of warm, glowing compliments from noteworthy individuals like Pyle, but we're out to get plaudits from every visitor; positive things like, "I wish I could have stayed another day," and "We couldn't have picked a better place for our annual meeting." Maybe even, "I didn't know there was so much to see and do in San Antonio," or "This place really is unique; I'll come back again."

The key to enjoying San Antonio is to relax, leave your worries behind, take your time and go with the flow (like a river). Embark on a leisurely jaunt along the River Walk. Sip a margarita ever so slowly. Read the entire plaque on a statue. Savor the beguiling tastes of Tex-Mex. Have dessert. Let San Antonio romance you, charm you and entertain you. Ride in a horse-drawn carriage. Crack a cascarone (confetti-filled egg) on the head of an unsuspecting friend. Laugh! Smile! Fiesta! Bring your camera. San Antonio is a sensory overload, so down-shift and experience it all.
