A Continuum of Quality Health Care Services & Facilities

We know that the availability of quality, accessible health care is important to our residents, and we have designed a full continuum of care that includes Assisted Living, Intermediate and Skilled Nursing Care, on site, through our professionally-operated Health Care Center. We even offer on-site dental services.

Assisted Living
Residents who desire assistance or have limited mobility enjoy the physical and emotional security afforded by this level of care. Each resident may retain a high degree of individual freedom, while benefitting from services that include supervision of medication, assistance with daily living activities and treatment for minor health issues.

Assisted Living offers an attractive alternative to nursing home care for residents who generally cannot function safely and independently on their own due to some degree of physical or mental impairment, but do not require around the clock nursing care.

Each of the 30 rooms in Assisted Living are 360 square feet, complete with, bathroom, shower, two closets (one is a large walk-in), custom window treatments and carpeting. All are fully furnished with an electric bed, bedside cabinet, desk and chair, lounge chair or recliner, TV armoire, refrigerator, telephone and cable TV services at no additional cost. Residents are encouraged to decorate their rooms with personal belongings to create a homey atmosphere.

Intermediate & Skilled Care
Patients who require non-hospitalized care for short-term or long-term illnesses/injuries/rehabilitation will find the quality care they seek at the ARC's Intermediate & Skilled Care units. Minor emergency treatment, personal assistance and care for minor illnesses, as well as long-term nursing care, are also available.

Our 42-bed Intermediate Nursing Care and 59-bed Skilled Nursing wings offer private and semi-private accommodations. Residents enjoy the comfort, luxury and spaciousness of fully-furnished rooms. Each room is 320 square feet, ample space for residents to personalize their rooms with favorite things that make them feel at home during their stay.

Area Medical Services
Comprehensive medical and surgical care is available at numerous military and civilian medical centers in the San Antonio area. Brooke Army Medical Center is just eight miles from the ARC; Wilford Hall Medical Center and Audie Murphy Veterans Hospitals are 15 miles away; and Northeast Methodist and Northeast Baptist civilian hospitals are both within eight miles.

Accreditation
The Army Residence Community has earned the highest standard of national accreditation for a retirement community through the CCAC, the Continuing Care Accreditation Commission. Accreditation is bestowed only on those communities that meet or exceed exacting standards of excellence in governance, residential life, financial stability and quality health care. CCAC accreditation involves a rigid assessment that includes:
  • An extensive self-study by the community's board of directors, staff, and residents
  • An on-site evaluation by trained professionals who represent the CCAC
  • A strenuous review by the Washington, D.C. based commission
The Continuing Care Accreditation Commission (CCAC), sponsored by the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (AAHSA), is the only national accreditation agency for Continuing Care Retirement Communities.
