Now at the ARC … A Cheery Dog Park! — In a sunny green space with cool grass, lots of good sniffing places and room to hang out with your doggie friends, you’ll find wagging tails, happy pet owners and unabashed canine joy. It’s the new Dog Park at the ARC. It’s all a testament to what ARC residents can achieve when they get together for a cause. Many residents are proud dog owners and a dedicated group of them launched a campaign to create the park on the ARC campus. Working collaboratively with the ARC management and Resident Council, they garnered community support, worked out some ground rules and the ARC staff constructed the new park. To celebrate the completion of this safe, friendly place where dogs can socialize with friends, run freely and play off-leash, they invited the pooch patrons to test it out. Fourteen dogs and their moms and dads happily attended the grand opening and everyone behaved quite admirably. Not a growl could be heard. Not a hair went up on a furry back. Not a tooth was bared. These pups knew this was a treat designed just for them, and showed their appreciation with licks and wags and their best behavior. The Dog Park is the first of two that will be opened on campus so that big dogs and small dogs will each have a place just for their respective sizes. Interviews with some of the new park patrons proved that the Dog Park is a roaring success: Woof! Arf! Yap! Everyone agrees it’s a great idea … and another good reason to live at the ARC.
