The ARC has purchased 88 adjacent acres for future expansion … and we have begun developing the first 30 acres with new residences, assisted living units built on a household-residential model and a Commons area with an informal dining venue, theater, medical and dental clinic, convenience store, banking annex and other amenities.
Back to TopConstruction is set to begin soon on luxurious new duplex cottages at the 88-acre ARC expansion. Developed and designed with the input of current residents, priority holders and other prospective residents, the Duplex Cottages will deliver a host of amenities that emerged as important to residents today and into the future.
The ARC will begin construction on its first cottages and The Commons area in February, 2010, with completion in September, 2010 on some cottages. The Commons area will be completed in September, 2011. Three floor plans will be available that range in size from 1670 to 1910 to 2018 square feet. All will feature two bedrooms and two baths and some models will have studies. Exteriors combine hand-crafted stonework with stucco in a modern architectural style that will be further enhanced by professional landscaping – including mature native trees, shrubbery, flowering plants and grasses.
A few of the many new features in the Duplex Cottages…

When The Commons opens in September, 2011, it will become the heart of the newly-expanded campus acreage. With its handsome Hill Country architecture – cut rock, stucco and standing seam metal roof – The Commons will be an architectural showcase with bustling activities for every resident. Landscaping plans call for mature native trees and plants, a cool, inviting pond and native grasses as part of the ARC’s Green Initiative. And inside, take a look at what’s to come for residents today and into the future…
One of the most distinctive additions to the ARC’s campus expansion will be a futuristic approach to assisted living. Starting in February, 2010, the ARC will begin construction on 48 units that will set a new standard in assisted living. The attractive residential models will offer a bold departure from the traditional medical model, giving residents the independence, privacy and choices they would expect from fully independent apartment living.

Each unit will have private bedrooms, private baths and kitchenettes (some units will accommodate couples). Common areas will offer inviting, friendly and comfortable gathering places for socializing, entertainment and dining. Nurses and other assistants will be on hand to help residents with daily living needs – including help with medication, dressing and other personal care needs – but there will be no institutional “nursing stations.” Units will be available in 480, 620 and 702 square feet – considerably more spacious than has been the tradition.
Watch for details as the project progresses. The units are expected to open in September, 2011.
Back to TopIn keeping with the ARC’s commitment to provide services that residents want and need, the ARC is constructing a modern Medical and Dental Clinic in The Commons. Part of the first phase of an 88-acre expansion project (which will initially develop 30 acres), the Medical and Dental Clinic will offer comprehensive primary care services, including an onsite lab for all residents who wish to access these services.
Residents will be able to walk to their medical appointments and be seen in modern examining rooms by an in-house primary care physician. Appointments will also be available in certain subspecialties for the further convenience of residents. This revolutionary concept is evidence of the ARC’s advanced services to accommodate residents.
In addition, the Dental Office will move into The Commons from its current location in the Health Care Center to consolidate medical and dental services in one convenient location.
The facility will be open to all residents who wish to use it and is expected to open in September, 2011.
